TEACHERS & STUDENTS
As an electric cooperative, Berkeley Electric is committed to serving its communities. We view supporting education as a vital part of enhancing the lives of those we serve. We offer scholarships and grants to local students and teachers as well as provide classroom demonstrations on electrical safety. We are strong supporters of STEM education and actively participate in career days and career academies at area schools.
BRIGHT IDEAS
The Bright Ideas Grant Program supports innovative and effective classroom education curriculum that cannot be covered by traditional school financing. Individual teachers can apply for grants up to $1,000 while teams of teachers are eligible for grants up to $1,500. Click on the link above to learn more.
CHILDREN'S BOOK CHALLENGE
The Children’s Book Challenge is a creative competition for all 4th and 5th-grade students in South Carolina. Individually or in groups, they can write and illustrate early-reader books about energy in their community. Students can use either or both of the digital and print platforms provided.
It’s a great way for educators to engage their students with a cross-curricular project focused on energy education that also correlates to many South Carolina state standards.
ELECTRICAL LINEWORKER PROGRAM
Additionally, we partner with Trident Technical College to offer the Electrical Lineworker program for adults interested in pursuing a career as a lineworker.
